Food Process

The EXQUISHEAT project will facilitate the roll-out of heat pumps via focussing on a number of widespread applications in the food industry. Thus, the project reaches to a high share of food companies, creates standardised solutions and addresses stakeholders in the food sector regardless of company size.

The project focuses on the following applications:

Hot water for sanitation and cleaning

Hot water is required for cleaning and sterilisation of technical equipment throughout all sectors in the food industry. Heat pumps can efficiently provide hot water or even steam for all kinds of process cleaning.

Pasteurisation

The heating of food products for pasteurisation and product treatment is an application across different fields in the food industry. Heat pumps can provide constant temperatures to secure product quality.

Evaporation, concentration and drying

Heat pumps can use the heat from evaporation and concentration processes and recover the heat to increase system efficiency. This process sector includes the air heating for drying processes.

Refrigeration and cooling

A cold environment is required to preserve the quality of food, especially vegetables and fruits, dairy products, meat, and ready-cooked and frozen food. This energy demand exists in different fields in the food sector.
